A lightly edited partial transcription of the St. Williams column on page 9 of the 31 Jul 1919 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

Last Saturday St. Williams lost one of its old residents by the death of J. L. Helmer, who for 40 years had lived here.

He was a good citizen and will be greatly missed by all.

He was in his 57th year, and is survived by his wife and five children, all boys, viz., William of St. Louis, Mo., Bruce of Detroit,
Floyd of Delhi, and two boys who live at home.

All were home for the funeral, which was sheld on Monday last, the remains being interred in Johnson's Cemetery.

There were many floral tributes, which expressed the respect in which the deceased was held in the community.
