Etc. -- Mrs. James Crane's 1919 obituary
Introduction | Source Documents | Other Sources | Photocopies | Back

A lightly edited partial transcription of the Bookton column on page 2 of the 17 Jul 1919 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper. [Compiler's Comment: was her husband's name actually Charles? There is no corresponding stone for a James Crane in Bookton Cemetery. There is one however for Charles Crane and his relict, who died in 1919 approximately 81 years old.]

There was buried in the cemetery here on Thursday last the remains of Mrs. Crane, relict of the late Jas. [sic] Crane, who was one of the pioneer settlers of Bookton.

The deceased lady had reached the age of 81 years, most of which time was spent on the farm just south of the village, but lately she had been living with her daughter near Teeterville.

She was also the mother of our esteemed ex-reeve James Crane.
