A lightly edited partial transcription of the Port Royal column on page 3 of the 21 May 1880 issue of the Norfolk Reformer newspaper.

PORT ROYAL

One of our oldest and most respected citizens has been removed by death, Mr. Gustavus Bingham, Esq.

He has been quite ill for a long time with bronchial infection, which terminated in death last Sabbath morning, 26 Spt 1880.

He was a professor of religion for many years and died happy.

The funeral was attended by a large number of neighbors and friends. A sermon was preached by Rev. W. T. Osborne and he was interred in Port Royal Cemetery.

He leaves a sorrowing widow and two sons to mourn his loss.

[Compiler's Comment: we found no surviving, readable corresponding stone in Port Royal Cemetery.]
