Military Medal
Walsingham Soldier wins Coveted Distinction

Word has been received at his home in Walsingham that Signaller Howard Wingrove, who went overseas with the 40th Battery from Hamilton, has won the Military Medal.

He is a son of Mr. Whitfield Wingrove, a well known Walsingham farmer.

On the day of the taking of Vimy Ridge, April 9, "Shorty" Wingrove was selected as one of a party from the 8th artillery brigade to "string wires."

The work had to be done under heavy fire, and it appears that Signaller Wingrove was the only one who was successful in maintaining the communication.
