The Late E. L. Walker

Another old citizen in the person of the late Edgar L. Walker, has been laid to rest. The body was taken to Waterford for burial, from the home of his daughter,
Mrs. R. J. Thomas, 131 Erie Avenue.

The funeral was private and conducted by Rev. David Alexander, who spoke comforting words from
[2] Tim. 1:4, "The time of my departure is at hand."

The deceased was born 14 Jul 1840, died 14 Aug 1918, and leaves to mourn his passing three daughters and one son: Mrs. R. J. Thomas of this city, Miss Ada Walker and Miss Lula Walker, both of whom since the beginning of the war have been serving their country as trained nurses on the fields of Flanders in No. 1 Canadian Hospital, and one son, Mr. Frank H. Walker of Beamsville, all of whom have the sympathy of the community in their day or bereavement, and especially the girls at the front, one of whom, Miss Lula, also served at [Salonika] and Egypt.

Mr. Walker for very many years had been a member of the Waterford Baptist Church, but for the last 10 years made his home with Mrs. R. J. Thomas.

The floral wreaths were beautiful. --Brantford Expositor
