A lightly edited partial transcription of the Items of Interest column on page 16 of the 30 Jan 1919 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

The funeral of the late Howard Tomkins of Pontiac, Michigan, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Wilson, was held last Friday afternoon, Rev. H. C. Newcombe officiating.

Mr. Tomkins died on Wednesday at his home after a short illness from influenza.

He leaves a widow and four small children.

Mrs. Tomkins is at present ill with the same dread disease, and her mother, Mrs. Wilson, if with her.

Mr. Tomkins was buried in Oakwood Cemetery. He was 36 years old.

Mrs. A. S. Jennings of St. Thomas and Mrs. Clifford Yocom of Simcoe, are sisters of the bereaved widow.
