Simcoe, May 13 -- The announcement has been made
that the shrievalty of Norfolk has been filled by the appointment of Dr. Walter Tisdale of Lynedoch.
The vacancy has existed since the death of
Dr. Fred S. Sinder in February.

The new sheriff is a member of one of Norfolk's pioneer families, his father being Ephraim Tisdale, brother [sic] of the Col. David Tisdale, one-time minister of militia for Canada.

He was born in Norfolk county and in his early life spent some time in the Simcoe schools.

He married Miss Addie Wood, whose family also was well-known in Norfolk years ago. Her brother is
Mr. Wyatt Wood, customs collector at Oakville.

Two children born to Dr. and Mrs. Tisdale, are
Dr. Robert W. Tisdale of Delhi and Miss Amy Tisdale,
at home.

Dr. Tisdale is a Presbyterian and a prominent Conservative. He was a staunch supporter of the
Union government in the recent election.

His predecessor was a North Norfolk medical man,
and although the claims of the south riding were considered in selecting the new sheriff, it is a
coincidence that he, too, is a doctor.

It is understood that there were many applicants
for the vacant office.
