A lightly edited partial transcription of the Vittoria column on page 2 of the 16 May 1918 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

It is with great saddest we report the death of Mrs. John Thompson, who passed away Tuesday afternoon. She had been ill only a short time and despite the best of care, she succumbed.

Deceased leaves to mourn her loss her husband and three children, Fred, Florence and Charles, at home. Mrs. Edward Brown and Mrs. Pankhurst are sisters, and
Ed. Forrest of Port Dover, a brother.

We extend our sincerest sympathy to the bereaved ones.

The funeral was held Friday afternoon to the Baptist Cemetery and was conducted by Rev. Mr. Hurlburt.
