A lightly edited partial transcript of the Waterford column on page 2 of the 7 Nov 1918 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

The funeral of of the late Mrs. Geo. Smiley, aged twenty years, who died of typhoid pneumonia, following influenza, on Friday, 31 Oct 1918, took place Sunday afternoon.

Interment took place in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. F. Anderson, assisted by the Rev. J. B. Moore, conducted the services.

The deceased had been nursing some other influenza patients when she contracted it and went to her mother's home.

After about a week's illness she seemed to be on the mend, but took a relapse, and in spite of all that loving care and medical attention could do, succumbed.

The sorrowing husband and relatives have the sincere sympathy of the citizens of the community.
