A lightly edited partial transcription of the Items of Local Interest column on page 2 of the
12 Dec 1918 issue of Simcoe Reformer

After a year's absence overseas, Rev. Lawrence E. Skey of Toronto, who has been acting as a chaplain to the forces, has returned home and on Thursday night a hearty welcome was given him by his parishioners.

His church, St. Anne's was filled to overflowing, and an address was presented to him, and a bouquet of roses to Mrs. Skey.

Capt. Skey praised the Canadian soldiers and said that they had never failed to reach their objective. He said that they were called Foch's pets, but that did no get them any less work.

Capt. Skey is an old Port Dover boy, and is a cousin of Messrs. George and Frank Curtis of this town.
