The following is a lightly edited  page 1 article in the 15 Aug 1918 Waterford Star newspaper.

Obituary

After an illness of several months, there passed away 
at his home on Friday, 9 Aug 1918, Robert Leandor Silverthorn at the age of 79 years.

Deceased was the eldest son of John and Cherity [sic] Silverthorn of Windham township.

He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Mrs. Cecil Pursley; his brother, Sidney Silverthorn of Buffalo, N.Y.; and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth of Buffalo and 
Mrs. William Hesson of Guelph, who mourn his loss.

The funeral service, which was largely attended, took place on Sunday, 11 Aug 1918 at 2 p.m. from his late residence. It was conducted by his pastor, Rev. 
J. B. Snider assisted by Rev, J. B. Moore of Waterford.

Mrs. William Hesson of Guelph, 
Mr. and Mrs. J Robinson [sic] and family of Port Rowan.
 
 

The following is a lightly edited  item from the Waterford column on page 2 of the 15 Aug 1918 Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

Obituary

One of the old residence [sic] of Townsend [sic] Township, in the person of Robert [.] Silverthorne, aged 79 years, died at his home at Round Plains, Friday 9 Aug 1918.

The funeral took place Sunday at 2 p.m. Interment at Windham Centre Cemetery. Rev. J. [B]. Snider of 
Round Plains, assisted by Rev. J. B. Moore of Waterford, conducted the services.

Besides a sorrowing widow and an only child, the deceased leaves two sisters, Mrs. Hesson of Guelph. 
and Miss Elizabeth Siverthorne [sic] of Buffalo, and one brother, Sidney, of Buffalo., to mourn his loss. 
To these and other relatives the sincere sympathy of a wide circle of friends is extended.
