A lightly edited partial transcription of the Clear Creek column on  page 3 of the 26 Dec 1918 Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

On Monday evening a surprise party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Pitman in honor of their son, Harry, who had recently returned from overseas.

About 70 guests assembled and were heartily welcomed into the joyful home, while the hero of the evening looked on in growing amazement.

Games were participated in by all present until after midnight, when the presentation of a ring was made to Harry by his neighbors, friends and parents, as a token of their esteem and affection.

The address was read by T. P. Campbell, and Bruce Loucks presented the ring.

At a reasonable hour the party broke up with many expressions of appreciation for a most enjoyable evening.
