NATIVE OF LYNEDOCH

Friends were shocked yesterday to learn of the sudden passing at her home here of Mrs. G. J. McKiee, mother of Simcoe's Mayor, in her 68th year, after a very brief illness.

The late Mrs. McKiee was formerly Jessie Reid, daughter of Archibald Reid and Jane Holtby. She was born at Lynedoch in 1866 but had been almost a lifelong resident of Simcoe, having made her home here following her marriage to the late George J. McKiee. Her father was one of this county's first wardens.

Her husband predeceased her three years ago and she is survived by one son, George J. McKiee, Mayor of Simcoe; two daughters, Mrs. W. D. Powell of Brantford and
Mrs. Janet M. Jackson of Victoria, B.C.;
three sisters, Mrs. Robert Watson of Owen Sound,
Mrs. Hamilton Wood of Grant's Pass, Oregon, and
Mrs. W. A. Gray of Calgary Alta.; and one brother,
Milton Reid of Drayton Ontario.

The funeral is being held this (Tuesday) afternoon from her late residence, Union Street, with interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
