One of Houghton Township's pioneers died at his home at Beach Lane on Tuesday, 23 Apr 1918, in the person of Mr. Albert Magee. 

Deceased was in his 77th year, and although he had been in poor health for some time, his death came unexpectedly.

He was born at Burford but moved with his parents to Houghton Township, when a boy of 15.

Fifty-four years ago he married Miss Grace Perrin, and their union was blessed by a family of seven children, two girls and five boys, six of whom survive him. They are: Ernest and Ottis of Wallaceburg; 
George of Hamilton; Herbert at home; 
Mrs. Ferris of Frogmore, and Mrs. W. Safford of Simcoe.

Also surviving: his wife and two sisters: 
Mrs. Eastman Wilson of Glen Meyer, 
and Mrs. Beaugardus of Niagara Falls.

The funeral was held at Glen Meyer on Friday, 
Rev. Mr. Chute of Fairground officiating. The 
pall bearers were Messrs. Charles Matthews, 
Kelly, Scruton, H. McGuire, W. McGuire and Stansell.
