A lightly edited partial transcript of Langton column on page 8 of 1 Nov 1917 Simcoe Reformer.

A gloom was cast over the community on Thursday when the death of James E. House occurred at the home of his father-in-law, Captain Scott.

Deceased was taken down with typhoid fever 10 weeks ago at his home in Port Colborne. 

He became well enough to come to Mr. Scott's two weeks ago, where he had a relapse, to which he succumbed on Thursday.

He was 22 years old and had been married only 14 months. He is survived by his young widow and three month old son. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. House, reside at Courtland.
