A lightly edited transcription of a page 8 item from the Thu 2 Jan 1919 Simcoe Reformer.

Pte. Lloyd S. C. Hayward of Woodstock, formerly of Simcoe, died in Woodstock on 31 Dec 1918 of influenza-pneumonia.

He went overseas in 1914 with a Brant battalion, came back to Canada, and again went overseas. He was wounded at Ypres.

He leaves besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hayward, and his sister, Mrs. Jay Thompson, a young wife.

Mrs. Thompson's husband, who was a member of Simcoe's hockey team several years ago, is on overseas service.
