A lightly edited partial transcription of the Local Items of Interest column on page 7 of the
19 Dec 1918 issue of Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

Mrs. R. E. Gunton on Thursday received a telegram from her son, Gunner George Gunton, notifying her of his arrival in [       ], having been a passenger on the Olympic. He reached Toronto today and will probably be home this evening.

On Wednesday Mrs. Gunton head bad news from her sister, Mrs. Wm. Nettleton. The latter's eldest son, Fred Austin Nettleton, has died, after a week's illness of influenza. It is barely a month since a daughter of Mrs. Nettleton died in the West from the same dread disease.

Mr. Fred Nettleton was a healthy young man of fine physique, and had practically never been ill until this sickness seized him. He was 30 years of age and leaves a wife, who is also very ill with influenza. The funeral is to be held from his late home, Orchard Farm, Adelaide Township, near Strathroy.

Mr. and Mrs. Nettleton, the latter of whom was formerly Miss Emma Austin of this town, have the sympathy of many friends here in their heavy affection.
