A lightly edited partial transcription of the Items of Interest column on page 16 of the 30 Jan 1919 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

A well-known pioneer of Houghton Township, Jeremiah Fick, died at his home on the second concession on 16 Jan 1919.

"Jerry" attained the ripe age of 81 years and was well and favorably known to the older residents of the township, having in his younger day traversed the district with a threshing outfit.

He was a good mechanic, an energetic worker and square in his dealings.

Besides a wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Delbert Matthews and Mrs. Wm. Jackson. Also two sons, Lemain and Emery, the latter being a returned soldier.
