A lightly edited partial transcription of the Simcoe column on page 8 of the 9 May 1901 issue of the Waterford Star newspaper.

Mr. C. C. Fairchild left Monday for Peace River. He will go to Dunnegan and will explore and survey 576 square miles for the purpose of settlement.

The land has been granted by the Dominion Government to the Peace River Colonization company, and is said to be among the best in the Northwest. He will be abroad until November.

His brother, Mr. W. H. Fairchild, leaves for the "Soo" having been engaged to survey the lands granted by the Ontario Government to the Algoma Central Railroad company. He also will be absent till the Fall.
