Death of Mrs. John L. Davis

The funeral took place here on Sunday afternoon of Mrs. John L. Davis of Toronto.

She was formerly Miss Ethel Evans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Evans of Tillsonburg. who, about 10 years ago, came to Simcoe with their family from Haldimand County.

Only a few years ago she was married to John L. Davis and for a time they lived in Simcoe, moving to Toronto about two years ago.

Always during her life she had suffered from a weakness of the heart, and when she became ill a few months ago went to the home of her parents, who now reside in Tillsonburg, where she died on Friday.

A private service was held in Tillsonburg on Saturday, at which Rev. Dr. Benson officiated.

The services here were conducted by
Rev. H. C. Newcombe and Rev. J. H. McBain,
at the residence of her father-in-law,  Wm. Davis
on Maple Street, and the funeral took place to
the family plot at Oakwood Cemetery.

The pall-bearers were Messrs. Frank Cardiff,
Garton Holmes, H. A. Johnson, Perry Sowden,
Roy Van Patter and Ward Butcher.

Deceased is survived by her husband and parents, and one brother, Harvey Evans of the Molsons Bank staff, who came from Ottawa to see his sister before she died.

A younger sister, Miss Persie Evans, died of a serious attack of pneumonia in the spring of 1916 when she
was visiting her sister in Toronto.
