Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coombs of Townsend celebrated the 49th anniversary of their wedding at the home of their son, Frank Jr., in Mount Pleasant on 24 May 1918.

The function took the form of a picnic of the family,
when all the children of the ancient pair, 12 in number, save one, were present to add to the hilarity and
rejoicing usual at such an event.

To these children have been given sons and daughters
to the number of 19, and in the fourth generation are
12 children. So it will be seen that a family gathering of such numbers would be very much out of the ordinary.

An easy chair was given to each of the two guests
of honor. To Dr. McGuire fell the pleasant task of
making the presentation address, which he did in
his usual happy manner.

The children are:
Edward Coombs of Mount Pleasant;
Minnie, Mrs. Palmer of Port Dover;
William, at home with his parents in Townsend;
[Neffie], Mrs. Dean of Waterford;
Sulla, Mrs. Neil of Norwich;
Frank Coombs Jr. of Mount Pleasant;
Milly, Mrs. D. Ewing of Waterford;
Jennie, Mrs. Brennan of Waterford;
Horace Coombs of Mount Pleasant;
Arthur Coombs of Brantford;
Louisa, Mrs. Miles of Jarvis; and
Ethel, Mrs. Munro of buffalo.

The only one absent was Mrs. Munro, who was unavoidably kept at home on account of illness.

The friends of the aged couple join in wishing that
they may not only celebrate their golden anniversary,
but live together in Health many additional years.
