A lightly edited partial transcript of a column on page 1 of the 24 Oct 1918 Simcoe Reformer.

One of the sad deaths resulting from the prevalent influenza is that of Eric Carter, well known to many Simconians.

He and his wife and three children were all sufferers, and Friday evening, a few hours after the hospital was opened, they were taken there.

The inroads of the disease were such, however, that recovery was impossible, and on Sunday morning he breathed his last.

The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon to Oakwood Cemetery.

Other members of his family were also sufferers from the disease. Mrs. Carter is still ill at the hospital, but the children are making good recoveries.

The late Mr. Carter was employed by the Doninion Gas Co., and at one time had been on a transfer wagon.

His parents live in Woodhouse, a mile out of town.
