A lightly edited partial transcript of the Waterford column on  page 2 of the 27 Jun 1918 Simcoe Reformer:

The remains of the late James Birdsell, aged 84 years, arrived in town Friday evening [21 Jun 1918] from Buffalo, where he died at the home of his niece, 
Mrs. Charles O. Potts, who along with her sister, 
Mrs. Nicholls, their mother, Mrs. Charity J. Allen, 
and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Potts accompanied the body.

Interment took place on Sunday at Boston, where 
the deceased lived all his life up till five years ago. 

The sorrowing relatives have the sincere sympathy 
of their many friends. Rev. Earl Dale conducted 
the funeral service.
