Etc. -- Mrs. William Bannister's 1918 obituary (revised)
Introduction | Source Documents | Other Sources | Photocopies | Back

A lightly edited partial transcription of the Vanessa column on  page 2 of the 26 Dec 1918 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper. Almost the same copy appeared in on page 4 of the 12 Dec 1918 issue of the Waterford Star newspaper.

The death occurred at her late residence on Friday, 16 Dec 1918* of Mrs. William Bannister, in her 72nd year, after an illness of several weeks.

The funeral services were conducted on the following Monday.

Deceased leaves to mourn her demise a husband and four sons: John of Delhi, Wilson of Toronto, William of Michigan, and David of New Ontario; also two daughters: Mrs. David Taylor of Vanessa, and Mrs. Alexander McMullen of Hamilton; and one sister, Mrs. Wesley Haynes** of Kelvin, who will have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.

* The Waterford Star said she died Friday, 6 Dec, not Friday 16 Dec.
6 Dec was a Friday, 16 Dec was not.

** The Waterford Star identified the sister as Mrs Hayner, not Haynes.
