E. S. B. Moore

Prominent Simcoe photographer and one of the community's best known citizens, E. S. B. Moore died in St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton, on Saturday morning. Although he had not been in good health for some time, his death came unexpectedly.

Everett Stanley Byrd Moore, who was in his 7]6]th year, was born in London, Ontario., a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. T. D. S. Moore, his father being one of Ontario's best known journalists. As a boy, Mr. Moore moved with his family to Toronto, where he received his education.

He spent six years with the Swift Co. in Chicago and some time in Hamilton before coming to Simcoe 43 years ago to purchase the studio formerly owned by S. G. Asseltine.

Since coming to Simcoe, Mr. Moore had given a lifetime of service to the task of photographing citizens of Norfolk and doing commercial photography for business and industrial firms in the town and district.

Practically every prominent Norfolk citizen of the past half century had been photographed by him and he became recognized as one of the most talented portrait photographers in Southern Ontario.

His excellent photography won him numerous awards in province-wide competition under auspices of the Ontario Society of Photographers. His exhibits were out-standing features of the Norfolk County Fair and he never missed one in the 48 years.

Aside from his business, Mr. Moore took a prominent role in community affairs. He served as president of the Simcoe Rotary Club and the Simcoe Lions Club and was an active member of Trinity Anglican Church. A fine golfer, he played on the men's team of the Norfolk Golf and Country Club for many years.

In Toronto, in 1902, he was married to Lily Maude Clark, who predeceased him on December 4, 1949.

Surviving are two sons, Stanley D. Moore of Woodstock and Francis Everett Moore of Belleville. Deceased was the last surviving member of his family.
