Golden Wedding Of a Fine Waterford Couple

Mr. and Mrs. J. K. McMichael Celebrated Their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary; Friends and Relatives Gather

Waterford, April 4. -- An interesting event took place at "Maple Avenue Farm" on Tuesday, April 2nd, when Mr. and Mrs. J. K. McMichael celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding.

Mr. McMichael was a grandson of James McMichael, who came from Pennsylvania to Norfolk over one hundred years ago and bought the land which has since been developed into the beautiful model farm with its approaching avenue of maples from which it takes its name. The original log cabin of James McMichael was built near the spot where the palatial residence of his grandson now stands.

Mrs. McMichael was Miss Sarah McKerlie, and she and Mr. McMichael were married by the Rev. A. Slaght in 1862. Three children and six grand-children were present at the anniversary besides a few old friends, among them being Mr. Egbert Kitchen of Vittoria, an uncle of Mr. McMichael; Mrs. Lewis, Toledo; Mrs. Fairchild, Brantford; Mr. and Mrs. M. Little, Toronto; and Mr. and Mrs. McConnell, Delhi. Those present who were at the wedding fifty years year were Mrs. Calvin McMichael, Mr. Louis Beemer and Mrs. W. S. Gage[r].
