Death of James Hughes

Delhi Reporter. -- James Hughes, for 40 years a resident of Windham, died suddenly at his home at Brandy Creek on Monday, Oct. 2nd, aged 60 [sic] years. Mr. Hughes had been ailing for a few weeks but was thought to be improving when suddenly called to his reward. Mr. Hughes during this long period has made many warm friends who are sorry to hear of his death.

There are left to mourn the loss of a loving father, a widow, three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Kinchular of Simcoe, Miss Margaret of Tillsonburg, Miss Anastasia at home, James of Little Current, and John on the homestead, and one sister, Mrs. S. Tussee of St. Williams.

The funeral took place on Wednesday from his late residence to the R.C. church, LaSalette, and was largely attended. High mass was sung by Rev. F. Goetz of Tillsonburg, assisted by Rev. F. Brennon, P.P, The family have the sympathy of the community in this sorrow.
