After Fifty Years

Mr. Geo. E. Hopkins and wife of Estline, South Dakota, are visiting relatives in this vicinity. Mr. Hopkins paid the Star a visit on Saturday.

He stated that it was just fifty years since he was in Waterford, having left here with his father in 1849 for the Western States.

They settled first in Camfield, Minn., and afterwards moved to South Dakota. The Great Northern was the only railroad in western Ontario when he left here.

His mother's name was Susan Collver. He has a number of relatives living in Townsend, among them being Levi Lewis of Waterford, John Lewis of Townsend Centre, Hugh Collver of Bloomsburg, who are cousins.

Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins are spending the winter in this vicinity and they have also visited Mrs. Hopkin's [sic] relatives at the Falls.
