THOMAS C. GRAY

Thomas C. Gray, of Wyecombe, Ont., passed away quietly at his home, Sunday, May 1st, at four o'clock p.m.

Mr. Gray was born at Ellicottville, N.Y., May 28th, 1832, and moved to Lyndoch [sic], Ontario, with his father, Mr. George Gray in 1847, where they proceeded to clear up a farm, upon which he lived with his family until 1862 when he moved into North Walsingham, cleaning up another farm, upon which he lived until the Spring of 1874, when he removed east one mile, upon the farm which he occupied until his death.

In politics Mr. Gray was a staunch Liberal. He was an earnest advocate of good schools, having served many years upon the school board of his district. He was a charter member of the Presbyterian church which was organized in Lynedoch in 1860, and he served as an elder nearly forty years.

He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Snively, of Charlotteville, May 3rd, 1852, by whom he is survived. There were born to them seven children, namely, 
Abram W., of North Tonawanda, N.Y.;
Mrs. Wm. J. Randles and Mrs. Andrew Gilchrist, of Waterman, Ill.;
George R., who resides on the old farm;
Mrs. A. L. Wilson, of Wyecombe;
Wm. A., of Calgary, Alta., and
Thomas Elliott, who died in 1883.

The funeral took place on the 5th inst., and was conducted at the home by his pastor, Rev. J. Johnson ... [Service description omitted]

A large number of friends and relatives were present; the family were all present except William A.

The remains were laid at rest in the Evergreen cemetery at Lynedoch.
