The Late Wm. Dedrick

Mr. William Dedrick died at his home at Langton, in North Walsingham, on Saturday morning, February 19th. He was a son of the late Cornelius Dedrick, and a grandson of the late Lucas Dedrick, who settled in Walsingham in 1793, and sowed and reaped the first wheatfield in Norfolk County.

The late Mr. Dedrick was a most worthy citizen, honorable, honest, upright -- a gentleman in every position in life. He was an ardent politician, a faithful churchman, a kind neighbor and a thoughtful friend.

He leaves a widow, three sisters, Mrs. J. H. Backhouse, Mrs. Jerusha Smith, and Mrs. Cattle; two daughters, Mrs. Marcus White, of Knife River, Minnesota, and Miss Florence Dedrick. Besides these there are numerous nephews and nieces, all good citizens and worthy members of society. Mr. Dedrick was 79 years old.

The late Mr. Dedrick was a successful school teacher in early manhood and taught in Port Rowan and in other schools in that community. He afterwards did commission work and conveyancing in Port Rowan and was well known to the older people of that village. He joined the Baptist church in Port Rowan when about 20 years of age, and was a consistent and active member of that denomination for 60 years.
