St. Williams

A very sad death came to this neighborhood on Thursday, that of Mrs. Alice Howick Cope, wife of Mr. Daniel Cope.

Snatched almost suddenly from a home that idolized her -- from her husband and his almost saddened parents, from her own parents and large family of brothers and sisters, who went almost wild with grief at this first break in their affectionate home circle, from the whole neighborhood in fact, for her death has caused universal regret.

Everyone that had any knowledge of Mrs. Cope both loved and respected her, and the saddest of all funerals was that at the Forestville Baptist church on Sunday, where no eyes were dry and where strong men wept as they looked for the last time at the sweet mother and her beautiful babe sleeping their long sleep.

Mrs. Cope was a thoroughly consistent member of the Baptist church. The interment took place at the Centre.

On Tuesday evening Mrs. Milton Woodward received a telegram stating the death of her grandmother, Mrs. Fero. She was a sister of Uncle Fred Cope.

She was born on the old Cope farm 82 years ago, spent the early part of her life here, and removed with her husband and family to Michigan probably 20 years ago.

While here she was held in the highest respect as a Christian friend and kind neighbor. -- Port Rowan News.
