Death of Mrs. Abram Barber

Mrs. Abram Barber of Walsh died on Wednesday, Jul 18th, in the Norfolk General Hospital, after a few days illness. Following an attack of influenza, pneumonia developed, and she was brought to the local hospital where all was done that medical skill could do to save her, but she passed away in a few days. Relatives and friends were shocked to hear of her sudden death.

Much sympathy goes out to the family of four children, who will miss the care of a kind and loving mother, and who are also bereft of a father, he having predeceased Mrs. Barber about 10 years ago.

Mrs. Barber was, before her marriage, Clara Burk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Burk of Walsh, where she was born 38 years ago. Most of her life was spent in that village. Her kindly manner had won for her many friends. Her mother, Mrs. John Burk of Walsh, four brothers, Mahlon of Crosswell, Mich., William of Vancouver, and Archie and Harry of Walsh, also two sisters, Mrs. Wilfred Caughell of Delhi, and Mrs. Ralph Misner of Townsend, also mourn the loss of a daughter and sister.

The funeral service was held at Walsh United Church on Saturday, July 21st, and was largely attended by sorrowing relatives and friends. Her pastor, Rev. Mr. Wright, conducted the services, and he spoke of the high esteem in which the deceased had always been held. Many were the beautiful wreaths and sprays which bore silent testimony that she was loved by all. Interment took place in Walsh Cemetery, where she rests in peace beneath the flowers.
