60th Wedding Anniversary is Observed
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Brown married
January 2, 1877 at Delhi.

Celebrating 60 years of married life, Mr. and Mrs. William A. Brown of Brown's Corners, celebrated their diamond anniversary on Saturday, January 2, 1937.

Mr. Brown, a scion of an old Norfolk family, was born in Charlotteville 83 years ago.
Mrs. Brown, 79 years of age, was Frances, daughter of James and Harriet Derrickson
of Charlotteville. Their marriage took place at the Baptist Parsonage, Delhi, on
January 2, 1877, Rev. (Elder) Van Loon being the officiating clergyman. The bride's attendant was her sister, Martha, who is Mrs. Martha McDonald of Niagara Fall, N.Y.

Residents of Charlotteville since their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Brown have for the past 55 years years lived at their present home on the 8th Concession. Both are in good health and, in spite of their advanced years live alone on their farm.

Eight children were born to them:
George, of St. Thomas
Ella, Mrs. H. B. Sitgreaves of Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Birt, Mrs. Henry Mansfield of Woodhouse
Florence, Mrs. C. Cupples of Tillsonburg
Kate, Mrs. Ernest Smith of Tyrrell
Harry, killed in action in the Great War
Fred, of St. Williams, who died two years ago, and
Audrey, who died in infancy.
There are 29 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Brown is one of 10 sisters, only one now surviving in addition to herself in the person of her bridesmaid, Mrs. McDonald. There was also one brother in the family,
now also dead.

The anniversary was celebrated at the Brown home on Saturday, when all of the family, with the exception of Mrs. Cupples, attended to do honour to their parents, who are much respected residents in their district.

Gracing the dinner table was a large five-tiered wedding cake made and baked by the bride of sixty years ago, who is still able to perform her household duties as of yore.
