Death of Dr. John Bonner

On Monday evening, March 7th, death came to take away one of the oldest men in Delhi, in the person of Dr. John Bonner, who was ninety years and three days old. The deceased fell on the ice, Sunday, Feb. 27th, and broke his hip. This and his advanced age led to his sudden departure.

Dr. Bonner was born at Jefferson, York State, in 1820, being a son of the late John Bonner, who was one of the first pioneer settlers of Oxford county. Deceased practised dentistry in Listowel and Tillsonburg before coming to Delhi, where he has resided for about 35 years, following his business until he became too feeble. He is spoken of by the older residents of Delhi as being a very clever dentist in his day.

He was a member of the Baptist church.

He leaves to mourn his loss a bereaved widow and one daughter, (Matilda), Mrs. Schram, of Medicine Hat, who were at his bedside at the time of death.

The funeral took place on Wednesday, and the remains were laid to rest in the Delhi cemetery, after which a service was held in the Baptist church.

The widow and daughter have the deepest sympathy of their many friends.

Mrs. Bonner will return with her daughter to the west.
