Prominent Townsend
Farmer passes away

A well-known resident of Townsend passed away on Saturday in the person of Mr. James Cowan Blayney, a member of a prominent county family, that came to Norfolk in the early days of its settlement.

Mr. Blayney was born in Charlotteville, but had lived in Townsend most of his life-time. He was in his 67th year.

He is survived by a widow, who before her marriage to him 35 years ago, was Hannah McKim, of Lynedoch, two sons, Lieut. Clarence Blayney of the 133rd Battalion, T. Blayney at home, and three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Wallace of Townsend, and Miss Phoebe at home, and Miss Leila Blayney, a school teacher near Kingston.

There also mourn his loss a brother, Mr. Henry Blayney, and a sister, Mrs. Frank MacCallum, both of Townsend.

The funeral service was held at Mt. Zion Methodist Church and burial at Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe.
