Obituary

Death claimed one of the oldest residents of Waterford on Saturday, Dec. 13, 1913, in the person of Leamon Becker. Mr. Becker was born in Waterford, Aug. 18, 1836, and had always lived here. 

He was married on April 10, 1864, to Mary F., eldest daughter of the late Leonard Sovereign. Mrs. Becker predeceased her husband by about fifteen years. Mrs. A. B. Walker, of Winnipeg, is a sister of the late Mr. Becker and the last surviving member of the family. The late Mrs. D. R. Foster, of this place, was also a sister.

Mr. Becker was in his usual health, when on Thursday morning, the 11th inst., he was attacked with paralysis and never recovered from the stroke. On Thursday evening he became unconscious and on Saturday morning passed peacefully away.

The late Mr. Becker was a member of the Baptist church for many years. He was a Mason, and an active member of the Canadian Order of Home Circle, and Ancient Order of United Workmen.

The funeral was held on Monday, the 15th inst., from his late residence, and was conducted by his pastor, Rev. E. R. Fitch, B.A., assisted by Revs. Ward, Truax and Moore.

Mrs. Florence Hobbs, of Tillsonburg, 
Mr. Percival Kirkpatrick and Mr. Leonard Sovereign, of Saskatoon, Sask., Mr. O. S. Laycock of Buffalo, N.Y., and 
Dr. Howard York and Mr. Gordon York, of Toronto.
