Philip Judson Austin

One of Woodhouse's best known residents, Philip Judson Austin, passed away early this morning at his home east of Wiggins' School. He was in his 82nd year.

Born in Woodhouse, the late Mr. Austin spent his entire life on the farm on which he was born. He was a son of the late Isaac Austin and Marjorie Waddle and during his lifetime followed the occupation of a farmer. He was an ardent supporter of the United Church and at the time of his death was an elder at Mt. Zion United Church.

In 1884 he married the former Dorcas Henning and four years ago they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons and two daughters, Robert A. and Harry E. Austin of Woodhouse, Miss Prudence Austin, B.A., of Port Arthur and Mrs. Roy Hammond of Port Dover. Also surviving are three sisters Miss Isabel Austin at home, and Mrs. (Rev.) Wray Smith of Brantford and Mrs. (Rev.) J. H. L. Joslin of Winnipeg. A son, William Judson Austin, B.S.A., died in Kelowna, B.C. in 1920.

The funeral will be held from his late residence on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock with interment in Oakwood cemetery.
