The Late Mrs. H. W. Anderson

The community was shocked to hear of the death of Mrs. H. W. Anderson which took place quite unexpectedly on Tuesday the 7th instant at the home of her grandson, Mr. L. A. McCrimmon of Hamilton, where she was spending a few days. She was brought home for burial in the Port Royal Cemetery on Thursday.

She was the youngest daughter and last surviving member of the family of 13 children of the late Timothy Abbott Esq., one of the earliest pioneer settlers on the Front Road west of Port Royal.

She was born 14 Dec 1847. In 1868 she married H. W. Anderson, only son of James Anderson, also one of the pioneer settlers of Port Royal district. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson spent their entire lives in the neighborhood of Port Royal and were an influential couple known and respected by an extended circle of friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Anderson's kindly and cheery disposition won her many friends and made her path smooth throughout her long and useful life. She was the mother of two children, Florence, wife of Chancellor, A. L. McCrimmon, who predeceased her mother, and Mr. J. Harry Anderson of Erie View.

The funeral on Thursday afternoon was largely attended. Service was held at the family home at Port Royal and was conducted by the Rev. A. T. Parnell of Port Rowan Baptist Church, with interment in the family plot at Port Royal Cemetery.

The bearers were W. H. Leighfield, Chas. Walsh, Peter Fick, E. Foster, Geo. Leighfield and C. M. Foster.
