The following is a partial transcription of the Bookton column on 
page 2 of the 23 May 1918 Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

Two of our young men, Myles Gibbons and 
Clifford Malcolm went to Brantford on 
Tuesday and came home attired in khaki. 
However, they have obtained two weeks 
leave to assist on the farm before going 
for good.

The reception held at Ed Malcolm's on Thursday 
evening in honor of Pte. Clifford Malcolm, was 
largely attended. The young soldier was presented 
with a beautiful wrist watch prior to his leaving 
for Niagara camp.

Pte. Clifford  Malcolm arrived home on Thursday after spending 18 months overseas.

We are sorry to report the death of Clifford Malcolm, who died on 29 Sep 1919. Deceased was a returned soldier. His parents have the sympathies of their many friends.

On Monday, Sept.  9th, at Brantford Hospital, there passed away to the Great Beyond, Clifford, son of 
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Malcolm, at the age of 22 years.

He was a general favorite with all who knew him, 
had just recently returned from overseas, and was 
stricken with appendicitis. 

Medical aid proved of no avail. Burial took place in 
the Bookton Cemetery on Wednesday. 

Deceased leaves to mourn his loss his parents, 
five sisters and three brothers, all of whom reside here.
