A partial transcription of the Items of Local Interest column on page 10 of the 3 Jul 1919 issue of the Simcoe Reformer.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hammond received word from the Records Office on Dominion Day that their son Herbert, reported missing since 28 Aug 1918, is now officially declared dead.

A lightly edited transcription from page 6 of the 18 Sep 1919 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.


In sad and loving memory of our beloved son Bert of the C.M.R., fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hammond, of Talbot St., Simcoe, who was wounded at the Battle of Amiens, 13 Aug 1918, and died in hospital in France, 
22 Aug 1918, aged 21 years [6] months, 15 days.
