Simcoe's Civic Holiday
The Firemen's Picnic

Mayor Wilson declared Monday last our Civic Holiday. The Lacross and Cricket Clubs, and their friends took the train to Woodstock for matches there.

The Firemen's Picnic was the principal attraction for those who stayed in town. A procession headed by the Simcoe band took the principal streets from Market Square to the grove of Duncan Campbell, Esq., where dinner was partaken of.  

Immediately afterwards a program of sports -- running, jumping  and other races -- including three-legged race, baby show, and carrying pail of water race -- took place. The prize winners were:
