Want to partner with a Norfolk native making a difference in AIDS ravished Africa? Or just see what she has been doing? Here's your chance...

Family friend and Norfolk native Robin Pond settled in Australia years ago and with her husband is now trying to help some of the half million African children orphaned by AIDS. This video tells their story and solicits your help.

Genealogy it is not. But it is a next-generation extension of her family's multi-generational tradition of quietly contributing to their community, and we are only too happy to assist in getting the word out. We think of this video as a bit of history in the making.

Robin is a granddaughter of Harold I. Pond, the fellow who shot the 1957 home movie Building Hambleton Hall, and who also appears briefly in our 1950 Santa Parade video. Harold, his wife, their ancestors and descendants have enriched Norfolk County through their contributions in business, arts, poetry, history, athletics, social involvement, church participation, and more since the 1800s. The entire family seems to get up every day determined to demonstrate that one person can make a positive difference.

Now Robin is tackling one of the biggest tragedies of our generation. This video provides a first hand perspective on Kenya and its people, which has long been ignored by news media.

This video began life as a PowerPoint presentation designed to get Robin's story out to church groups and others who may want to help in Australia. We converted it to a video in an attempt to make the story more easily accessible.
