From 12 Aug 1946 Simcoe Reformer:
"Townsend Takes First Final 8-2 ... putting the game on ice in the 8th inning when they scored half their runs, Townsend Stars defeated the Simcoe Veterans 8-2 at Wellington Park." ... [and front the same issue] ... "Townsend gets second straight win in finals. Stars put game in bag early and stave off Vets rally to eke out 8-7 victory."
