In 1804 a census of the county of Norfolk was given as follows:

Woodhouse 198 156
Charlotteville 223 184
Walsingham 87 59
Windham 45 35
Townsend 155 123
Houghton None None
Middleton None None
 
Total, 1,275. In 1861 the population of Norfolk was 28,520.
Today the population of Norfolk is nearly 2,000 less than it was fifty years ago.
