A collection of useful developmental disabilities Internet resources and links designed for persons with a developmental disability, parents, or relatives, friends, staff, organizations, teachers, students, or anyone interested in learning more. The focus of the references targets adults, yet much of the information is age-generic including some variety of age-specific material. The resources are alphabetically categorized with a brief explanation to facilitate ease of acquiring particular and practical information that promotes understanding of persons who experience developmental disabilities while fostering a caring and inclusive society.
This Internet Resource Collection endeavored to compile a list
of relevant and credible resources through searching the Internet and primarily
referencing information generated by reputable Organizations, Associations,
Institutes and Professionals. This educational information should prove
to be useful to readers interested in developmental disabilities. The author
organized the resources and provided a concise summary of the content in
order to assist with searching and to promote awareness of site content,
for the reader to determine whether the
particular information would be useful for their specific educational purpose.
The author, Dinah Biddle, has educational and experiential credentials as a professional in the field of developmental services. She has served as an instructor at the community college level for over 6 years and worked for over 10 years with individuals of varying ages who experience developmental disabilities, in a wide range of positions varying from frontline, management, research and most recently behaviour management therapy. Committed to ongoing education and improvement of services for persons who have developmental disabilities, currently she is studying at OISE/UT Master's in Education: Curriculum, Teaching, & Learning.
Links to resources and information will also be added regularly.
